30 Day Writing Challenge .... Day 4

I have a bad migraine tonight, but I didn't want to skip a day of writing, so here I am.

How ya'll doin ? I hope you're enjoying your day. I don't know about where ya'll live, but here where I am, its hot and sunny. Feels like mid-summer weather. My daughter is loving it, me, not so much lol, I don't like heat or humidity.

So This entry, is Day 4, which is

10 Interesting Facts About Myself......

1- I'm a big kid at heart... I love watching Disney classics, cartoons with my daughter, playing games (board games and video games), coloring, etc.. I find it relaxes me a lot.

2- I am OBSESSED with Hello Kitty, Winnie the Pooh, Baby Yoda, Lip gloss (and lip balms), Dollarama, Michaels, Sons of Anarchy and anything Dia de los Muertos.

3- I have 9 1/2 tattoos so far, but planning on getting more soon, and trying to learn to do tattoos myself.

4- I love doing crafts, especially upcycling old stuff and making it into something new again.

5- I can speak 3 languages....English (obvi), French, and Spanish (or Dominican as my friends say)

6- Incase you haven't noticed by my pics (and videos) get bored of my hair color quick, I tend to change it every few months. Still surprised I have any hair left ! I been dying it since I was about 13.

7- I love interior design, so I'm forever changing the furniture and decor in my home every few months (usually once every season)

8- I like to read a lot, but I hate romance novels. My preference for reading material is true stories, biographies, paranormal, thrillers, and murder mystery

9- My favorite color is pink, purple and blue

10- I can be the sweetest person, or the biggest bitch, it all depends on how you treat me.

There is so much more I can say, but they asked for 10, so here's the top 10 that came to mind. Maybe I might do some things like this (or as we used to call them back in myspace days... quizzies or surveys) on my other blog that I pretty much never post on lol which I use to post things like this.

30 Day Writing Challenge .... Day 3

Hey everyone ! Happy Sunday !

Today's post is all about love. My FIRST love to be exact.

I won't say his name, cause I don't want to put him on the spot like that. We'll call him Mr. Dimples. He was a boy I met one day as I went on an errand for my mum when I was about 14. He was standing outside a metro with his homeboys, and the first thing I noticed about him was his deep sexy dimples ! Dimples have always been my biggest turn on.  He was shy and so was I, so one of his boys came to talk to me and introduced me to everyone, including Mr. Dimples. The boys convinced us to go for a walk to talk, and we were gone for over an hour. They all thought we had done a lil sum sum, but nope, we went to talk at the hang out spot on the train tracks. And all we did was talk, and get to know each other, plus he had a gf then.

Over time, we started hanging out a lot, and we became best friends. Mind you, his gf at the time hated it, but oh well, a mi no m'importa. I had the BIGGEST crush on him, and he admitted one night to me that he felt the same way about me because I made him feel like someone important. I would listen to him talk for hours about things that bothered him, and never once told him to "man up" like some people did.

One day they broke up and he was so upset over it, he called me and asked me to come hang out, and I rushed out to where he was. I used to drop everything for him the minute he would call. One night, I was hanging with him and the boys, and we were all in the park drinking, and I was in a bad mood, and he got down INFRONT OF THE BOYS on his knees and sang "I Swear" by All-4-One. He didn't even care if the boys laughed at him, because he just wanted to see me smile. How could you NOT fall in love with someone who does that for you ?

Plus he was an amazing kisser ! And when our "first night" finally happened, he knew I was scared because of my past, and he was so gentle. No we didn't date, but I'll tell you, everyone sure thought we were. We were almost always together, always on the phone, and when we would see each other, our eyes would sparkle, especially mine.

I miss him, last I heard from him was years ago, before my daughter was even born. I wish I could run in to him. I freaked when I saw his pic on the news a while ago. Still gorgeous as ever. (Yes, he's gangsta...love my gangstas, ya'll know that).

I'm gonna stop right here, I could talk about him forever, but I have to go make supper for my family and rinse this dye out of my hair.

Btw, he wasn't my first kiss, but I don't really wanna talk about that, I prefer this, its much happier.

P.s.....

If you know who I'm talking about, please do not say his name in the comments, I really would prefer to keep his identity private since a) that's in the past, and b) I don't want to say his name without permission, and since I have no way to track him down, I'll honor his privacy by not saying his name, thanks.

Today's song challenge is "A song that makes you happy"

That would be "I swear" by All 4 One (obviously)

30 Day Writing Challenge ..... Day 2

 Hello hello !

How ya'll enjoying this lovely Saturday ?

Despite not being able to move very much due to severe back pain, I'm having a good day.

Today's post for the 30 day writing challenge, is to write about my earliest memory. I don't know which one to write about, cause I have so many awesome memories from my childhood, as well as many sad ones.

One of my most vivid memories from my childhood, is when my family and I used to live in a different home from where my grandmother lived. Whenever we would come over to visit my grandmother and my great grandmother (who we referred to as Baba), and she had this one rocking chair that was basically her chair, no one sat in it but her. We couldn't really communicate well with her, because she didn't speak English very well, and my brother Jubjub and I could only speak a few words of Ukrainian, not even enough to make a full sentence. But that didn't stop Baba and I from having fun. I remember sitting in the kitchen watching her cook, and listening to her stories about Ukraine. My favorite memory of her, was when she used to let me brush her hair, and also when I would sit on her lap when she sat in the rocking chair, and she used to play horsey with me on her lap. (bouncing me up and down on her lap, and sometimes even on her leg, like by her ankle. For an old lady, she may have LOOKED frail, but Baba was the strongest lady I knew).

My Baba was a phenomenal woman. She sadly passed away when I was very little, but I still have very fond memories of her that I will cherish forever.

Today's music challenge is "Your least favorite song"
That one's easy, that would have to be "Crazy Frog" that song annoys the ever lovin hell outta me !

30 day writing challenge.....Day 1

Hey everyone !

Welcome back to my blog ! Hope everyone is doing well today.

Remember how I said in my previous entry that I would try to get back to writing as much as possible ? Well, I figured that trying out this 30 day writing challenge will help me.

So here is day 1.....

Five Problems With Technology

1- UPDATES !!!

I don't know about ya'll, but ugh, I HATE that we always have to update our computers, phones, tablets, tvs, apps, games, etc. I don't just mean update the operating systems, but everything, including the actual item itself, to have the latest version. That costs money. Like really, if it ain't broke, don't fix it !

2- AUTO-CORRECT !!

Personally, I turn off auto-correct on all my devices, because I don't always write in proper english, and its a pain in the backside to always have the device think its smarter than you and try to change your words on you. Like if I want to write in slang or in another language, don't try to tell me that what I'm writing is wrong, cause newsflash, auto correct isn't always right either.

3- PRICES !!

It seems like with every new device upgrade, it dam near costs an arm and a leg ! Most people want to keep up with the latest technology and trends, so the minute a new iPhone comes out (for example), people are rushing to get the latest model, even if there is nothing wrong with the one they are currently using ! I've seen people go in to debt just to stay current with new devices. Like why ?

4- PEOPLE ARE BECOMING LAZIER !!

You can't deny that technology is making people even lazier than they have been in the past. Myself included ! How many people, instead of talking to someone who is right in front of them, (or in the same house as them), will text (or DM) someone to bring them something or to ask a question they could've just opened their mouth and asked. People used to love going shopping, now with technology, you don't need to, just go online and you can order practically anything and have it delivered to your front door. I know now with the pandemic, its easier and safer, but still.

5- TOO MANY CATFISHES !!!

I can't even begin to express how serious this one is. With the advancement of technology, its becoming easier and easier to be catfished online these days. People can hide their true ip address, hiding their location, therefore can easily say they are from someplace they might never even have been to. People can easily search online for pictures, post them to their social media, and pretend to be said person. That can, and in many cases has proved to be, seriously dangerous.

That's only 5 I could think of so far off the top of my head. There is so much more lol. It was hard to narrow it down, but there you go.

What about ya'll.....

Do you agree with what I said, or do you disagree, and why ?

What do YOU think is wrong with technology ? Leave it in the comments below.

Also....

Instead of making new posts or starting a new challenge, I will also be doing a 30 day MUSIC challenge at the end of each post...

here is the image if you want to play along

Today is "Your favorite song"

That's a tough one, I have so many. but if I had to choose one, it would be "In my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride.

Its been awhile huh ?

Wow, the last time I posted on there was in 2018. I need to try to do better at keeping up with my blog huh. Not like anyone really follows my blog, so its not really being missed lol. As far as I know, people only come to my blog when I share a link for it, so its whatever I guess.

But I'm here now, and like they say, better late than never, right ? But wait, who are "they", and how do they know its better late than never ? Oh well, that's an age old question that will never be answered.

The question that CAN be answered however, is where have I been ?

I could go in to this long story about my whereabouts, bore you to death, or I can give you a plain and simple short answer..... My mental health has been kind of a mess lately, and I been keeping to myself a lot so that I don't take it out on people who don't deserve it.

I did make a Youtube video about it, if you want to watch it, I'll link it right here.

But simply put, I needed a break. From what exactly, I still couldn't tell you a precise answer, but I am working on slowly getting back to myself.

Much has gone on since 2018 when I last posted on here. If I were to start trying to explain it all, we'd be here for days, so I'll save you the boredom. I am trying to get back in to my blogging, because I find that it helps me to get things off my chest without having to burden anyone with my problems. I can hear Fifi now (my sister/best friend/p.i.c), and I can feel "the look". I *KNOW* I am not a burden, BUT when you deal with mental health issues like I do, sometimes you can't help but FEEL a certain way. Also too, people have their own lives and problems to deal with, it can't always be about me.

Plus, this is also a way for my beautiful daughter to look back on in the future and get a glimpse in to what was going through my mind when she was growing up. She can look back on this years down the line and be like "oh, that's what mommy was going through". Sort of like a time capsule.

So in ending....

I am going to TRY to be more active on here, whether people follow my blog or not, whether this gets read or not, for my own peace of mind more than anything. I used to keep a  diary (well still do, but haven't written in it since 2017 when Tony passed), but I lost the interest in writing, or maybe I just became lazy, but I find it much easier to just get my thoughts down using a computer than the traditional pen & paper.

That's it for now, I have another blog entry I want to write, not sure if I'll do it tonight or tomorrow, but it will get posted eventually. For now, goodnight, and like my friend Amanda Beth (click her name to check out her yt channel, she is awesome) says....

Thank you for wasting your time with me.

My Kitchen Makes Me Happy

Ask me which room in my house is my favorite, without hesitation I’ll tell you, it’s the kitchen. Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by the amazing things that can be created in the kitchen. Food has always been my passion. Cooking and baking since I was able to reach the countertops. Well, helping my mom and grandmother cook and bake anyhow. Unlike my friends and other family members who were around my age, instead of playing with toys or playing outside, I preferred to stay in the kitchen with my mom and learn as much as I could about cooking. Everyone knows that you need to eat to live, so why not learn to enjoy yourself while doing something that needs to be done to survive anyhow ?

Cooking and baking is also a good way to unwind. However, there are some times that I get frustrated because sometimes the recipes wouldn’t come out exactly as the cookbook showed it should. On the other hand, even though I would get frustrated, I would also learn how to keep my cool. I learned that getting frustrated or angry didn’t help matters, because either way, if a recipe didn’t turn out properly, it was ruined whether I got frustrated or not. As the years passed, I started to create my own recipes by adjusting other recipes, and also by just throwing ingredients together and hoping that the end result would be at least somewhat edible. That’s the best way to learn what works and what doesn’t, is by trying. You never know if it’ll work if you don’t try.

Now I cook and bake a lot. I cook for myself, as well as for my family and my friends. Most of the time, when I’m not busy taking care of my daughter or studying, you can usually find me in the kitchen creating a new recipe, or trying something out of a new cookbook. Going to restaurants can cost a lot of money if you go all the time, but the food isn’t as filling or as tasty as a good home cooked meal. I pride myself on taking care of my family by making sure that they always have a good home cooked meal to sit down to. When I see them undo the zippers or buttons on their trousers because they are full, and see the smiles on their faces, it brings me much joy. My kitchen has taught me a lot about patience as well as brought a sense of comfort to my life. I couldn’t live without a kitchen or my abilities to cook and bake.

What about you ?
Which room is your favorite ?

Never Too Old For Video Games

Sorry folks, If you don't like long posts, this might not be the one for you. The mood I'm in right now, this might very well turn out to be one of those. I have something I need to rant about, and I don't know yet how long this will be.

I don't know about ya'll, but personally, I am sick and tired of people shaming others for being adults who enjoy playing video games !

For real though, what gives you the right to judge someone else for doing something they love doing ? You don't even know the reason WHY the person is playing games to begin with. To be honest, did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the person suffers with a mental health disorder, and playing video games keeps them calm, or keeps their mind off things ?

No, you didn't, did you ?

As long as a person's bills are paid, their housework is done, a person's child(ren) is taken cared of, and they are not neglecting their responsibilities, who the heck cares what they do in their spare time ? Better them play video games than doing drugs, drinking, going out and doing illegal things, don't ya think ?

Take me as a perfect example....

I am 40 years old and I play video games. I am in no way ashamed of that fact at all. I see nothing wrong in it to be honest. My house is clean (not spotlessly, obvi, cause I like my house to actually look lived in thank you), my bills are always paid, my daughter is always fed, and I keep a close eye on what she's doing. (well to be honest, when I'm playing my games, she is usually either right beside me, or not very far off, cause she loves to watch me build houses in the Sims). So if I want to spend hours playing Sims, or whatever game I fancy, then whose business is it really ? And what right do they have to make me feel like I am doing something wrong, or that I have something to be ashamed of ?

I suffer from mental health disorders (yes I said disorderS, I have more than one, but I'll talk about that another day) , as well as I have physical ailments that keep me pretty much confined to my home for the majority of my time. So if I want to spend a few hours lost in building homes in the Sims, kickin' ass in Mortal Kombat, or doing whatever in whatever game, then so be it. LET ME BE ! Playing video games is my way of coping with my day to day life.

Hearing someone say " oh there she goes, off to play house again", is very hurtful, because I don't start playing my games until my daughter has been fed, and my housework is done, as well as whatever else needs to be done. And you know what... I even take time to read a few chapters in a book before I even sit down at my computer.  It may seem, by my tweets or online statuses, that it's all I do all day, but let's be real here. No one wants a play by play of every boring detail of a stay-at-home mom's day. Hell, even I would unsub from myself if that were the case ! But unless you're watching me 24/7, you don't know what my life is like, or the pain I go through every.damn.day.

I have actually had people close to me tell me they think I'm exaggerating the severity of both my mental and physical ailments because I spend "so much time" at the computer. Firstly, I have a LAPTOP which means I can transport it from room to room, so if my back starts to hurt, I can easily (as I am right now at the moment of typing) move from desk, to bed, to sofa as I please.

But in all honesty, I, and any other adult who plays video games, really don't need to explain our reasons behind being whatever age and playing games. I know a lady I met on facebook that is well in her 60's and still plays various video games. It's not so uncommon anymore to find adults who game.

There was also a study done that explains how playing video games is actually good for your health. *gasp* I know right ?! Maybe people are jealous because they can't spend hours playing games and are envious of those who can. Or maybe its young people who are jealous that us "old folk" are better at it than they are. Whatever the reason, STOP JUDGING !

Here is a link to one of the many news articles I have read about how playing video games is beneficial....
https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/11/11/playing-video-games-is-good-for-your-brain/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.e0f362612930

here is another link, this one to 7 reasons adults should play more video games.... https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jan/05/why-grown-ups-should-play-more-video-games

So in closing....
Quit ya bitchin', if you see someone spending their time playing video games, and its not affecting anyone in a negative way, then just let them be. Don't judge me for doing something that keeps me calm and makes me relaxed and happy. Because believe me, I could be doing A LOT worse, but I choose to do something that makes me happy and doesn't have a negative effect on anyone around me. Ask yourself why does it bother you so much ?

Lemme know in the comments below...
Are YOU an adult that still plays video games ? If so, how old are you, and what are some of your faves ?
